This educational cultural walk starts at 10am on Sat 2 October at the Troyeville Hotel, 25 Bezuidenhout St, Troyeville.

Troyeville dates back to 1888 ~ one of Johannesburgs oldest suburbs.
The walk includes the Spaza gallery , Spiritualist church ,the home of David Webster (assasinated political activist) , Gandhi’s home, Johannesburgs oldest school and first private hospital.
There is also an opportunity to buy ingredients for Portuguese Cooking.

The tour concludes at the famous Troyeville Hotel for lunch (own cost)

Our walk through the Muti shops will include the famous “Museum of Man & Science”. We will meet Sangomas (witchdoctors) and Inyangas (herbalists) in the area . We will also learn about Traditional African religion such as the Zionist Church and the Shembe Religion. Our walk also takes us to shops that supply traditional beads and cloths incl. Shona , Shangaan , Zulu , Swazi , Sesotho , Ndebele & Venda ~ bring cash if you want to shop.

The walk ends at Gramadoelas ~ (Johannesburgs oldest restaurant open since 1967) specializing in Traditional African cuisine (lunch at your own expense)…
